What is the weldability and brazeability for this alloy?

The Copper Association website, has properties listed for this (and every other C-series) alloy. Braze- and solder-ability are listed as "fair", and welding by any method is listed as "poor". This is most likely due to the 39% Zinc content, as it will outgas horribly during fusion of the alloy.

If you want something weldable, try the silicon bronzes.

Weldability is lousy. A technical term that I coined that means a material weldability is between poor and not weldable.

Thanks btrueblood, I later got around to the CDA, which is a pretty good resource for those times I need to join a copper alloy, about once every three years.

Metengr, can I steal your terminology? I think I could apply it more frequently than once every three years.

Interference fit it is (I was not initially offered that option).

No trouble doing the math, but how important is surface finish? Fit will be class FN3.
