Per ASME Y14.5-2009, do you consider it acceptable to apply datum features MMB (to allow datum shift) for profile or runout controls? (As a side note - I do realize that for runout, allowing datum shift seems to make little sense functionally but I've seen parts being inspected for runout on a fixed size gauge with small clearance on the diameter, without any negative consequences). Looking briefly through the figures, haven't found an example of MMB for the profile or runout cases.

Runout - absolutely NO.

Profile - no problem:

CH, thanks a lot!
Both points (MMB for runout and profile) got clarified.
