Interesting, but i found a workaround for you
It seems that the graphics card dumps the mirror image of the model if the "original" becomes invisible, so the trick is to keep the original visible... ( Yes , really smart

I tried two methods to do this, and both seem to work.
method 1, Use a layout showing two views, then zoom only one to the mirror. ( the other still shows at least the original)
method 2, open a second window ( can be behind / hidden) one of these windows will display the original.
Interestingly, i have a grip program from the Unigraphics V9-ish-time, yep some +20 years old, still working , Using Grip one can define layouts other than the ones provided out of the box, such as a layout with a minimal view in one of the corners of the graphics.
I have been recommended
not use these layouts since the current graphics technology is quite different. anyhow it also does the trick, if one dares. ( On the other hand, one must maybe not save after using the layout if it is for design review usage ?)
Attached is a screendump of this "not-recommended-layout-style", a small view in the upper right showing both original and mirror. The main view only displays the mirror.

Tomas
