I can't seem to figure out how to mirror a solid body in a multibody part. Can someone point me down the proper road?

MadMango,

I'm on 2006, sp 4.0, but it's as straightforward as I would expect: select the solid body from the solid bodies folder, CTRL select the plane and mirror.

Does anyone know if this functionality was added in 2006?

You do have to make sure "merge solid bodies" is unchecked if they will not be touching.

I get the error "Only merging features may be patterned. If appropriate, make a pattern of bodies instead."

A pattern won't work. I can create another body (no biggie), I was just trying to save myself a little time.

As suggested in your error, you have to make body mirror rather than a feature mirror. If you just click on the body in the graphics area and hit "Mirror" it will default to an attempt at mirroring whatever feature created the body. One of the little dropdown thingies in the property manager for mirroring should say "Bodies to mirror". When you expand that one it will retract the "Features to mirror" box and allow you to select bodies.

Once in the Mirror Feature, make sure to first choose the Bodies to Mirror portion in the Feature Manager tree, then select your bodies.

If you are editing an existing Mirror that was a mirror of features...you can not edit it to now do bodies. When creating the mirror, if you choose features then future edits can only be for features. If you choose bodies when creating the mirror, then future edits can only be for features.
