I want to instrument a mini pile with several strain gages spaced at 1 to 2 m apart along the socket for tension load test. should I weld those gages to the threadbar (if weldable) or just tie them to the rebar and grout the pile? any photos showing this done before are appreciated.

I’ve always seen them zip tied to the bar and grouted.

There are different ways you can go about it, but the easiest would be to tie them onto the pile.

The only time I did that, was using TIG welding.

If you use foil gauges you can epoxy or super glue them on to the rebar/threadbar
