In the early versions of solidworks 2005 the smart dimension tool was set such that when creating a dimension SolidWorks would choose to create a minimum or maximum dimension depending on where the arc was selected within 90 degree zones or quadrants. However, since it inadvertently selecting a minimum or maximum value instead of the arc center, particularly when dimensioning small holes, this behavior has been changed in SP2.0.
In order to specify minimum or maximum values based on the arc quadrant selected the SHIFT key should now be depressed at the same time. If the SHIFT key is not selected when dimensioning the arc center will be chosen for the dimension by default. This applies to sketch dimensions and drawing reference dimensions.
