I am a metallurgist by profession. I would like to expand my knowledge in metallurgical problems, metallurgy in plants components etc. in power genration industies eg; petroleum refineries, gas manufacturing plants etc. Can anyone suggests where I can get information on this (books/journals etc. websites etc?) Thanks

Denjay,

For power plant metalurgy and the history of how materials are selected, I would start with "STEAM" (40th edition)by Babcock & Wilcox.

It is a primer, but is very specific about the selection, use and application of metals for power plant service....

See
I do not know of any comprable books for petroleum industry materials selection....
