Does anyone know how to seed additional points inside of a volume to increase the mesh density within a selective region of the model?

I know it is possible to modify the element creation limits, but this will yield an increased mesh density over the entire model.

I am able to seed the outer surfaces of the volume with points to increase the mesh density, but creating datum points on the inside of the volume seems to have no effect.

Any help would be appreciated.

I don't think that is possible. You can only do it on the surface, like you said, by just adding more data points on the surface of interest. But, you can not do it in the volume. I think (I could be wrong) it has something to do with the brick and tetrahedral elements that the part is made of. You can change the surface mesh, but you can not change the elements that the part is made of. Just my guess.

Good Luck

Add volume regions and seed the surfaces of the "cuts" of the regions with additional datum geometry.

Steve,

Glad it worked for you! Thanks for the follow-up. It is good to know when something works (or didn't).

mloew,

I guess I stand corrected. I just came from a ProM class and that was one of my questions and the instructor did what you suggested and it did not work for him. That scares me...
