Mechanical with plastic analysis

There has been talk that WF4 will havenon-linear elastic material properties added. This means you will be able to run analyses on rubber, or hyperelastic, materials. This will not allow you to conduct non-linear material "plasticity" analyses. I hope this is what you are looking for. I'm sure we'll find out more during this year's PTC/User conference this June sincePTC will present plans on what will be included in the next release of Pro/E.

I also want to know the difference between Pro/Mechanica and other CAE software such as Ansys


I only know Pro/Mechanica can do simple contact analysis(couldn't define friction coff) and large displacement analysis. Any other nonlinear problem?

What I am looking for is "plasticity" analyses, (von misses with isotropic or kinematic hardening, for example)...it will be really interesting to know the opinion of others about this specific topic.


could you please give me a link where i can know more about this "non-linear elastic material properties added" in wildfire 4..


I have been in ptc web site and I cannot find enything about wildire 4 and less about this new feature added.

I have no other information to provide - as I wrote in my note "There has been talk that WF4 will have non-linear elastic ... I'm sure we'll find out more during this year's PTC/User conference ...". Therefore I would not expect anybody to find any mention of it anywhere since it has not been formalized. We will know more one month from now, until then it should be considered a "rumor". Besides, this capability will not provide functionality that you are seeking as non-linear elastic material properties have nothing to do with material plasticity. Please re-read my previous note carefully.

But what I was looking for is "plastic deformation" (hardening law - for example), what WF4 got is large deformation with hyperelastic materials (ruber as example, they can stand large deformation but after taking out the force, the material come back to its original shape. -elastic behaviour-).
