Mechanical Systems Design is a solution that lets you create and set up mechanisms that can be used to perform motion simulations. Combining both Kinematics and Dynamics behaviors Mechanical Systems Design not only considers motion but also the underlying forces to provide realistic simulations of motions.
The configuration and motion of the mechanism is based on the degrees of freedom and relative motions allowed by the Engineering Connections — referred to as joints when included in a mechanism.
**********
This product offers the following main capabilities:
- Create mechanisms.
- Assemble mechanisms.
- Determine sub-sets of predefined engineering connections to be enforced in mechanisms.
- Specify commands to define the motion of mechanisms.
- Assess the motion of your mechanisms as driven by the specified commands (kinematics) or by motors (dynamics).
Mechanical Systems Design is intended to be used with Assembly Design that lets you define engineering connections to position mechanism components. You can create:
- Kinematics-type simulations in the Mechanical Systems Experience to simulate the motion of assembly mechanisms in different configurations.
- Dynamics -type simulations to simulate the motion of mechanisms accounting for forces such as mass and gravity.
The Mechanical Systems Design app supports design range management. When you create new content, you must specify the associated design range. Normal range is the default option and is sufficient in the majority of cases. For more information, see 3DEXPERIENCE Advanced Services: Introducing Design Range Management.
