mechanical seal for alum

Looking for operating feedback on mechanical seals for alum (used in water treatment); Is anyone aware of compatibility issues between the chemical and certain seal materials? I know that alum can crystallize under certain conditions, and may be a bit abrasive, which might also be a factor.

You have some very vague information here. More specific process / operating conditions would be more helpful. Also, your local mechanical seal rep. would be a good place to start if you are seeking opinions on the seal selection.
