Why does'nt Mechanical Desktop 4.0 have any backward compatibility? At this time, it will not even saveas<br>
a version 3.0 file.....hmmm.

I do not know why it does not have backward compatibility and it is a pain in the ass to have to bring forward the thousands of old drawings from MDT3. On the other hand MDT4 runs a lot better than 3 and has some added featrures that finally make this program somewhat usable.

mdt v4 can open files from previous versions, the only reason i can see wanting to save as an old file is if you are running version 4 and an older version at the same time.&nbsp;&nbsp; If you have many drawings in version 2 or above (like encampos does) you can install the 'migration assistance' tools to do batch conversions to mdt 4.0.&nbsp;&nbsp;Since i upgraded from version 1.2 I was not able to use it so cannot say if it works well or not (but the upgrade to version 4.0 was well worth it).

We have MDT4.0 and our injection molding house refuses to update from MDT3.0.&nbsp;&nbsp;So all new 3D files are exploded and converted to Iges or DXF.&nbsp;&nbsp; This is extra work for our engineering staff.

MDT 4 is crashing my system when I change views, Any one have any ideas. I'm new to system Thanks

I need the program Autocad Mechanical Desktop 6.0, i´m from chile , contac me i n mail address. thank

From what I know, MD6 wouldn't save in older formats. I had a lot of trouble with this.
