Question: How to install Mechanical Desktop 4.0 on Windows XP

I found the answer to my problem in a thread at this website, this answer is.
"run the mdt4 setup in winme or winnt compatibility mode"

However, when I open the CD drive to load MDT4 the setup runs automatically and tells me that XP in not compatible with MDT4. How can I bypass the disk from running setup so I can change it to winme or winnt compatibility mode?

Detailed answer to the problem.
At the XP host computer select "Start > Programs> Accessories > Program Compatibility Wizard".
The answers to the selections are obvious, load the MDT 4.0 to the CD drive at the appropriate time. You will still get the "Wrong Operating System" message but just close it and XP will load MDT.
Thats all folks.

This method has worked for me:

-Create shortcut of the setup.exc from the CD
-Place shortcut on your desktop
-Right click on the shortcut, click on properties
-Click on compatibility tab, change to OS of choice
-Exit out and run setup thru the shortcut
