I am new to Pro Mechanica.I am trying to determine force required to displace an object a certain distance, for example,if I had an application where i needed to know how many pounds of force to bend a beam 1 inch for a given material.

The deflection of a particular section is a function of how the load is acting (uniform, concentrated, etc), the method of end supports (fixed, supported, etc) and the strength of the section under consideration (modulus of elasticity and moment of inertia). For simple beam theory and some useful info on section properties you could pick-up a Machinery's Handbook.

codeeng, thank you for the reply.I am aware of the machinery's handbook giving me the answer I need, but I was more interested in how to find that in information by using Pro Mechanica. Thanks again
