This is nothing big at all. I was just curious if this can be changed....

When I go to Analysis/Measure Bodies and select a solid, it always pops up on "volume" and I have to switch it to "Mass". Is it possible to change a setting somewhere to make it come up on "Mass"?

In Results Display check Show Information Window box

Yea, I know of that one. When I do a measure bodies, it automatically has that little popup that so often gets in the way in NX, and my eyes are naturally drawn right to that. As long as it is going to keep popping up and its easier to see those numbers than making your eyes search through the info box, I was hoping it was possible to just have the correct option pop up each time.

Its not sounding like it is possible though. I might look into creating a journal to do it for me and use that instead of the usual Measure Bodies.

I doubt it. Displaying the volume value is a logical choice since it depends only on the geometry that you have chosen. The mass value depends on the volume and the material chosen (or density assigned) to the body. The mass (and/or weight) can change without the need of NX updating the model; if the material or density is changed, the mass changes but NX doesn't need to perform a model update. And if you have asserted a weight (or mass) value, what should show up then?

Im confused a little here. If I did that same thing and then went to Analysis/Measure Bodies, selected the body and changed it to MASS, wouldnt it still give me a weight to the body? At least I have never done a Measure Bodies and it not give me an answer before. I just want that option to come up instead of VOLUME.

Maybe I have just never run into a situation before like you are saying. God knows I keep finding more and more about NX that I dont know anything about. lol

Technically, there are differences between 'Weight' & 'Mass' and while under most conditions (for Earthbound problems) this can be ignored, in the case of creating expressions which can be used to solve equations, we decided to support both values and to provide them in the most commonly used units for engineering/scientific calculations (as we do have some actual 'rocket scientists' who use NX so they're problems are NOT always 'Earthbound').

This discussion is going off on a tangent...

Kenja if you do create a journal that brings up weight first in the drop box I'd be interested to see it.
