Dear All,
The question is regarding typical values of maximum allowable depressurization rate (bar/min or psi/min) for packed bed/trayed column to avoid damage to internals. Similarly what is the typical value of maximum allowable depressurization rate for centrifugal compressor ? In one of the project, we have used 20 bar/min for Compressor system. Appreciate if you share your experience. Thanks in advance, Regards, HD

Keep with the hydraulic flood line limit for packed beds and trayed columns, since there will be liquid inventory in the packed bed and trays at the start of depressurisation. For compressors, there is a max permissible depressure rate and it is limited by the O rings in the dynamic gas seal assembly - ask the dynamic seal supplier - I dont remember this limit now.
