The last ACI Manitoba Chapter talk was in regards to Maturity Testing of concrete for strength determination. Does anyone have any comments regarding this approach?

dik...it works, particularly on mass concrete or for high temperature swings, but requires fair amount of technical input and is relatively expensive for the first one in the area as most testing labs don't have the equipment unless they've done it on other projects. Rarely enough specified that multiple projects in same area are relatively rare.

I have proposed it on several projects but have not had one go through with it. Have done with thermocouples (similar to dedicated maturity meter equipment), but required a lot of tech involvement beyond technician level.

recommended it for a dam spillway construction in winter, good for speeding things up and monitoring in cold temps
