I am looking for a reference to, or the actual equation(s) that will allow me to model the power transmission efficiency through a centrifugal clutch during the time it begins slipping until full lock up.

Any pointers are appreciated.

If the slip = 100%, efficiency = 0
If the slip = 0, Efficiency = 100%
efficiency n = power out / power in
If drive speed is constant, assume torque is constant,
so n=speed out/speed in

However I have watched quite a few centrifuges starting with a centrifugal clutch, and the current drawn during acceleration often has a peak just before full speed, probably as the clutch locks up and transmits full motor torque.

Hope this helps

Jeff
