Hi all!

Please tell me where mechanica store their material files? is it the same place of Pro/Engineer?

Thanx in advance

Its in the Pro/Mechanica installation folder:

/i486_nt/lib/mmatl.lib

Israr

Thanks Israr

I wonder if we can configure config.pro files for pro/mech to use another material file in a specific placerather thanthe default mmatl.lib?

And another problem. I have a material file in pro/Engineer with detailed informations here:

MATERIAL STEEL& nbsp;

This file may be edited using available editor.
Just type on the necessary lines appropriate values
after the "=" sign. Comments are not permitted on
lines containing material properties names.

YOUNG_MODULUS&nbsp ;&nbsp ; = 2.050000E+11
POISSON_RATIO&nbsp ;&nbsp ; = 3.000000E-01
SHEAR_MODULUS&nbsp ;&nbsp ; = 8.085258E+10
MASS_DENSITY = 7.833372E+03
THERMAL_EXPANSION_COEFFICIENT = 1.170000E-05
THERM_EXPANSION_REF_TEMPERATURE = 2.930000E+02
STRUCTURAL_DAMPING_COEFFICIENT =
STRESS_LIMIT_FOR_TENSION = 3.050000E+08
STRESS_LIMIT_FOR_COMPRESSION = 3.050000E+08
STRESS_LIMIT_FOR_SHEAR&n bsp; =
THERMAL_CONDUCTIVITY&nbs p; = 4.480000E+01
EMISSIVITY&n bsp; =
SPECIFIC_HEAT&nbsp ;&nbsp ; = 4.733410E+02
HARDNESS&nbs p; =
CONDITION&nb sp; = STEEL
INITIAL_BEND_Y_FACTOR&nb sp; = 5.000000E-01
BEND_TABLE&n bsp; =
PRO_UNIT_MASS&nbsp ; = unit_kg
PRO_UNIT_LENGTH&nb sp; = unit_m
PRO_UNIT_SYS = MKS

The problem is, when turning to pro/mech, all these properties transfered except tensile yield stress (Von Mises failure criterion).And I have to manually add to. So, STRESS_LIMIT_FOR_TENSION is tensile yield stress?and how to make pro/mech get this valuefrom Proe automatically?

Thanx

This is for FEM mode only. If you want you can add your material properties by adding new material or edit the existing material but inside Mechanica mode.

So, is there any config option for pro/mech like pro_material_dir in WF?

Thanks

I place mmatl.lib in the working directory, but this file contains only materials used in a project.

Then if this file exists in work dir Mechanica use it, else from where Mechanica is installed.

As you can see this file mmatl.lib canhave 2 different contains in 2 localities.

withyour share of experiences,I have a new way to deal with the mmatl.lib of Pro/Mech

Thanx alot, LosAngeles!

So, STRESS_LIMIT_FOR_TENSION is tensile yield stress?

Hi all,

we can define Tensile Yiels Stress,

View attachment 4513

but what kind of way this Criterion have an effect on result?

I'm creating a simple analysis (static) with this criterion and without this criterion, but my results are identycally.

thanks in advance

Failure criterion is only used to calculate failure indices. You can use a failure index measure to determine whether a material has failed because
of excessive stress levels, which might be caused by an applied load or an
enforced displacement constraint. Failure Index can be created as 'Measure' to get the value

Hello Pro-Mechanica Guru's

Help me.

I have Mechanica motion , but i can not run the anlysis .I found on some website that I need to set variable MM_C_HOME to read the C++ compilar. I did that but seems like I didn't do it right.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.
