Hi there,

I have a short question....

I am currently busy calcuating numerous deck structures and my clinet refers to the AISC code!

The question that I have is regarding the Allowable Stress Limits for, tensile, axial, shear and combnined stresses. In the past I have worked with Lloyd's Register and basically the factors were 0,67 for tensile and axial, 0,4 for shear and 0,86 for combined. These factorsa are of the yield stress. What factors can be used to comply withthe AISC code.

Any comments would be a great help! Thanks

StelzerEng: Perhaps try thread404-115474. Good luck.

You really need to get a copy of the AISC-ASD if you're supposed to comply with it. It's not just a matter of specifying a few stress ratios. You'll also find the applicable material requirements, slenderness ratios, lateral support requirements, etc., and you have to use it all together to make a reasonable design.
