Manufactured steel joist & concrete panels

I have recently been asked to evaluate a building that has a manufacturer floor panel system constructed of steel bar joist with their top flange cast into a 3" concrete slab.

The panels are 8'-0" wide with the steel joists placed at 24" on centers starting 12" from the edge.

Does anyone know a manufacturer of such a beast?

Try Hambro Steel Joists. These are embedded in the slab.

Thanks Mike. I am familiar with Hambro by Swirnow Building systems but, as far as I aware, that is a cast-in-place concrete system with a specialized top chord of the joist. These are panels that where precast, delivered to the site and erected.

Okay, updated question. The prefab system is manufactured by Conodec systems, Inc. Does anyone have any information on that system, load tables? The building is in New Jersey. I do not know if it maybe a regional product or not.

I don't know of the specifics of the patent, but that type of system has been commonly used through Europe, Russia and other countries for a few decades. Those are fully documented and tested annually and the U.S. manufacturer is probably doing what the international licensor does and should be required.

There are few suppliers of these type of systems in the U.S. and they can be shipped quite easily because of the 8' width and relatively light weight.

Just contact a supplier and ask for the specifics.

Check with the person that came up with the system and find out what manufactures are within a few hundred(or thousand) miles. This will give you some leads for the product.

If it is existing some of the local contractors active in the vintage of the building construction will be able to provide additional information.

If Mike is correct about the Bolivian patent, I would look to Germany as the original concept since they are also used commonly there and there are some connections between Bolivian (and other companies in SA). The products specified/used/proposed might be very close to another product with minor differences for patent purposes.
Just getting the information is more challenging and difficult than evaluation.

I believe it was a US patent, - the name was Boliven, not Bolivian.
