Dear Friends,

As per NFPA 72 the detectors have to be tested yearly. In the power plant I work, We conduct functional test for detectors every year.Apart from these yearly testing,
1. Do we have to conduct a Preventive maintenance (Mainly cleaning the detectors' chamber using air blower)? If it requires kindly provide the reference and the maintenance instruction and recommendations.
2. Does NFPA 72 requires cleaning programs for the Addressable heat/Smoke Detectors?

Thanks in Advance.

Cleaning is a must if dirt, the frecuency is what changes in each environment. A strong vacum is a first approach to avoid removing it.
With today security standards of a person in a ladder is a strong reason to go for other type of detectors.
Every common detector has an easy way to open it, and some parts are delicate, if you open it the first time without guidance, you may damage some part but the second time it´ll be a piece of cake. I´m shure there is a good guy that uploaded a youtube video for a detector like yours if yor are allowed to do that.

friends,

thanks for the reply. i am thinking of using a vacuum machine to clean the detector. But i don't know how efficient it will be for a height of 20 meter.
