Hey all,

I'm currently facing a problem on one of my roll forming machines, the issue occurs when the machine gets jammed the extension shaft that is assembled with a drive shaft using set screws experiences torsional shear stress and deforms, the extension shaft then becomes a pain to replace. I've been wondering if using a magnetic shaft coupling would be able to work, and if so does anyone know any relevant textbooks that would be of any help?

There are clutches for just such use. They are also called torque limiters.

Thanks Dave, Yep that will work.
