I would presume that since the connection are short pulses they would be seen as AC.

While the brain can be manipulated by magnetic fields, almost all measurements of brainwave activity are electrical.

Static electric charge can only generate an electric field, but moving charges (as one has in brain activity) create magnetic fields. Both are very weak.
