Lowering an existing pipe.

Hi!
Does anybody have reference theory, books, pdf, about how to lower an existing pipe line that is still in service?
Your help would be very appreciated!

design the new line
shut off valves
remove the old
install the new and turn valves back on
make sure the new design works

not sure this is adequate material for an entire book, what is your specific question? what kind of line? what kind of service?

sometimes you may need to expand on cvg's process (if you can't handle the downtime, have the space, and get the "go-ahead")

design new line
design temporary line
get regulatory approval for temporary line (as it may not meet all design codes and conditions)
install temporary line
test temporary line
switch to temporary line
remove the old line
install new permanent line
test new system
diconnect temporary system
retest new system in final configuration
remove temporary system

I know that I've seen some information and procedures on lowering an in-service pipeline before but I can't right now place it and I'm not sure this would be considered an acceptable practice anymore. However, if I have some time I'll poke around and see if I can remember where I saw this.

Thanks, but the pipe have to be lowered while it's still in operation.
