I need to secure these rafters to the cinderblock top plate. They are just
toe nailed in now. I want something stronger that i can screw in w/o
removing the planking. Any ideas?

I might install rafter ties, but Im looking for alternatives.

The photo you've linked to shows huricane ties.

You've already answered your own question, use Simpson H2.5A with the recommended screws, I believe SD8x1.5"

There is another method using one screw thru the roof deck, down thru the middle of the rafter thickness, into the double top plate, but that will not make sense because you say there is only one wood plate, on top of masonry.

The definition of a structural engineer: overdesign by a factor of 1.999, instead of the usual 2.

AELLC: Look at his photos. They are already there... The point of weakness is not rafter to top plate. This fellow needs local real-world help, not the internet.

I understand. Thank you.
