Is anyone using a high current DC rated safety switch to disconnect a battery bank from a load? Operating conditions is 300 VDC and 265 Amps.

If in the USA, Pringle is one manufacturer.

Now-ad-days DC circuit breakers manufacured by Square D are common in large UPS applications.

What do you mean by safety switch? There are a few suppliers of load-break switches for DC duty, but they are large and expensive. Please define requirements a bit more.

Most all of the major manufacturers offer this, but to get above 250VDC rating you need to look at the heavy duty 600V rated units. I just checked the Square-D catalog and they go up to 1200A @ 600VDC. Click here and then hit the "NEXT" button near the top-right of the page for 600VAC/DC
I'm sure that Siemens, Cutler Hammer, GE etc. all follow suit.

ScottyUK,
A "Safety Switch" is a specific design of disconnect swith here in the US. Knife blade, dead front, vertical handle operation, lockable in the Off position.
