See above link for the specification in question. Does anyone know what purpose the ammonium carbonate serves in this instance? I have ran Organic samples in a muffle furnace per AASHTO T-267, which uses a lower temperature over a longer period, but the ammonium carbonate is a new step to me. Thanks in advance.

Stoph,

Got me. Suggest you contact OCA and ask why they don't simply specify the AASHTO or ASTM procedure.
