I've got a fan pushing air at 40mph at a vertical plate. Wondering what the best way to calculate that load is. Current method is using ASCE7 wind load formula with Kd & G as 1.0. Is this the best method or is there another I'm unaware of?

What is the size and material of the plate? Is it safe to assume that this plate and fan system are occurring in the interior of a building or is the plate located at the exterior face of the building?

If the dimensions of the vertical plate are several feel in each dimension, I'd consider ASCE 7 freestanding walls to apply nicely.

That's "dynamic pressure" from a moving fluid.
In imperial units:

Pressure (lb/ft2) = 0.5 x air density (slugs/ft3) x [air velocity (ft/sec)]2

Air density depends primarily on altitude.
