Liquid tight Flex - Max. Size

Good question.
Article 347 states that you can have rigid nonmetalic conduit up to 6". Article 351 as you say states that the maximum for liquidtight flex is 4".
I had 6" flex in my mill that was grandfathered all the way into the early 80's. I can see what I can find out for you, but as code stands, new installations of 6" flex is not code compliant.

The 93 code put the limit on flex as 4".
Flex and fittings are still made and ul listed up to 6". I think you could still use it if you needed to. Every thing is the code is dependant on the judgement of the "Authority having jurisdiction" which is your local inspector.
I don't know why the limit was put on size, probably some group somewhere abusing the stuff.
If you need it talk to your inspector first and get it approved.
