linking sketch text

Is there a way to link sketch text to properties? I have a crank with several lengths possible. The length of the crank will be engraved on it. I know I can have a feature for each configuration and just supress the ones that don't apply (I would do this in a design table, of course), but is there a simpler way, such as linking the text to a configuration specific property?
