Hello.

I have a problem with line display in drafting in NX 8.0.3.4 MP4. This is what I'm doing:
1) Create a model.
2) Create a new (ctrl+N), -> drafting -> blank
3) I'm going to modeling (M)
4) In modeling I create a cube: moldwizard -> create box -> offset 0
5) Then I create lines on every edge, to have a boundary in drafting
6) I put cube in layer 255
7) I chane color of lines and linetype
8) I go back to drafting, create a Views and those lines doesn't appears

The best thing is that - on another computer with NX 8.0.3.4 MP1 those lines are visible.

What I have to set in NX to view this lines?

With best regards
Michael

Hello,

Have you tried - Format > Layers Visible in View

Reset to Global

Thanks,
Mathi Krishnan

Yes, I have tried right now - it doesn't work.

Hello,

In layer visible in view I have like in attached screen. Could You tell Me exactly what I have to click or upload a movie?

Hello,

I have done like You write, but still I don't see those lines. When I open this drowing on second computer, the lines apperas, so the problem is in setting of nx. I create another model for example cube and add one line, then I create master model drafting from blank, and that line doesn't appear too. What is the reason of that problem?

With best regards
Michael

Hello,

Check the referenceset as 'Entire Part'.Use your MB3 on the component in the AN and set it.

Hello,

I have this structure:

model_dwg.prt
- model.prt
In model_dwg.prt I have created those lines, so reference set will doesn't work on that part. They will only work on model.prt, but I have in this model also FALSE reference sets.

Look at attached movie, I have record two different way to create master model drawing. In first option line is missing after create dwg. In second line is still visible. I think there should be some option set in nx.

With best regards
Michael

You need to slow down & pay more attention to what the dialog is showing.
When you add the first view in your video, the view is from Model2.prt. The default reference set being used then will be the 'Model' one which doesn't contain the line you drew.
When you add the second view, it's from Model3.prt which is the file you are in & the reference set being used would be Entire part.

Hello,

probably You have right, I will test what You said tomorrow, when I will be at work. Right now my main problem is still unresolved.

1) I have model with some geometry - for example some round cavity (core) insert with holes on angle (like first attached picture).
2) Now I create new master model from new - > drafting -> blank.
3) Then I go back to medeling (M), but still remain in this master model and create boundary box (create box from mold wizard).
4) Next I add line from for example basic curve.
5) Then I put this box on layer 255 or I just delete it (basic curve are unparametrized). I change color for lines for example to red and line style to not continuously to better see on drawing.
6) Next I go back to drafting (shift+ctrl+D), and create views.

The reason I want those boundary is that sometimes is hard to "catch" maximum length of model, or Its better to make holes for water before rest of element is made. For example core (cavity) insert is made frome cube, then someone drill holes for water ejectors, etc. and last thing is milling, turning, grinding or spark machining.

The problem is there I don't see this lines I created in point 4. But when I open this drafting on another computer The line are there. So the problem is in NX - maybe in Maintenance Pack (3, 4) or I have some option checked on my computer that lines (points, or even those box created in point 3) are not displayed.

With best regards
Michael

Hello,

Like I said before, one computer had installed NX in version 8.0.3.4 MP1. So We updated it to latest MP4, and We discovered that those lines disappeared. So the problem is in update. I have looked at release notes but I didn't found that function was removed. I have tested it on NX 8.5 and there is also removed.

I have question to someone from Siemens - why this function was removed? It's very useful and We use it very often. I know that I can do it in model and set reference sets, but the problem is that I don't want to put "rubbish" in model / assembly.

No need to steer people to the silly Google group
"Visible in View" has been brought up in here many times . . . just do a search

Jerry1423,

I tested "visible in view" and it doesn't resolve My problem. Siemens had delete some function that I need. First I thought that I have something set wrong on My computer, but after I updated machine which it worked previously, it stopped working. So the problem isn't in "Visible in view", but in update.

Hello,

One more time - When You have structure like this:

- model_dwg.prt
-model.prt

And in model_dwg.prt You create line/point/box etc. its not showing on drafting views. Previously it worked for example in 6.0 - 8.0.3.4 R. After update to MP03/MP04 it stopped working. I attach picture to make it clear.

Michael

Within the last week or two we have had a hand-full of new people on here with a couple of posts that go absolutly nowhere.
New people are welcome on here, but nonsense is not. This is a professional web site.

Are you creating these curves while in Modeling, that is with the Drawing not displayed?

Try updating the view boundries by forcing all of the views to update.

Hello,

Jerry1423 I understand Your point, but I'm not new user. I using NX almost 2 years. Befor it was NX 6.0, now it's 8.0 and We are moving to 8.5 in few days/weeks when all ld project will be finished.

Cowski, namdaci45 when I record this movie, I mixed two things, because I thought the problem is the same. Then namdaci45 told Me that I'm wrong and I must set reference sets. I agreed with him that's I mess up two things in NX.

John, Yes I creating this curves in modeling and then go back to drafting. I forced update views many times, but it's not solved My problem.

I promise, if I don't have right, and it's my error, it will be My last post. Please look at the movie I attach to this post and do the same. But do it on NX 8.5 or 8.0.3.4 MP03 or later because on earlier it worked. If it's working on Yours computer, then I will stop bother You.

with best regards
Michael
