Hello
I'm having a problem with light steel framing analysis.
How engineers often consider connections in structural analysis of LSF system? Pinned, fixed?

Components-in-a-light-gauge-steel-framing-system.png,

For this image: all the connections are considered pinned?

Thank you for the answer

Yes all pinned. Or at least in 95% of connections.

Seems pretty hard to develop the CFS with just screws, I'd have to be painted into a corner to use moment connections

Most are torsionally fixed. I can't remember the last time I saw a LG moment connection. Pre-engineered carports around here use them at the peak. I have seen the calcs on them and they seem sketch AF though.

What is the problem, exactly? Idealizing any of these as fixed will give you more problems when you start thinking about deformations.

Treat it like wood: pin everything until you can’t.
