I am attempting to desing a lifting trunnion made of 10" sch. 80 pipe welded onto a thin wall steel stack. The lift will be approx 100 kips. I am looking for a good design routine to aid in the calculations. I am considering using WRC 297 as a design basis, but I was wondering if any else has a better idea. Thanks in advace for your help.

Dennis R Moss "Pressure Vessel Design Handbook" Gulf Publishing is very practical. He refers to I Magnusson "Design of Davits", Fluor Engineers Inc, Irvine, California, and R J Roard "Formulas for Stress and Strain".
