Hey guys, i saw the note from EOR, Says "levelling plate may not be used for column base plates whose greatest dimension exceeds 300mm", Can anyone explain why is this?

Thanks in advance!!

I think you would have to ask the author of the note. Otherwise, you will just receive speculation.

I always though 600mm was about the limit for leveling plates (see AISC design guide on base plates). It is interesting that this is half of what I would have thought.

thanks hokie66

Can u let me know the page no. as i have AISC handbook fifteenth edition, Just wondering how base plate dimension relates with levelling plate.

Thanks in advance!!

AISC Design Guide 1 recommends a limit of about 24in to prevent issues with warping due to the thickness of the plate when fabricated, assuming a 1/4in. plate.
