Leveling requirement for bevel gear driving compressors in marine and land

Aug 30, 2012

A customer insist to have his gearbox level to 0.042 mm / m.
It is part of a gas turbine compressor

The same gearbox is used in floating production unit , which in nature could roll , yaw and incline .

Question is what could go wrong if the leveling is slightly out of limit ? ( 0.20 mm/m )
Example due to difficulties in adjusting the gas turbine side , the gearbox is inclined slightly .
