Being an electrical engineer with limited knowlede of drafting conventions, I need help resolving the correct method of indicating radius location for a metal panel.
I have a 2" x 5" metal panel. The panel has a 1.9" x 4.9"
milled out area with a 1/4" radius corners on the milled out area.

Is it ok to have an external leader line pointing to the milled out radius or does the leader line have to begin internally, as to not confuse the machinist into radiusing the 4 outer corners of the part as well?

Is either convention acceptable?

Thanks

Either convention is acceptable. It is better to have no dims within the part, except where clarity is at issue.

I would probablly put 1 leader off of one of the 4 radius corners, leaving the dim inside the sketch of the part.

marking as 4X R.25...

But hey, thats just me.

Whatever is more clear on the dwg. I usually have it on the inside, but depending on the scale of the dwg you may have to show it on the outside. Either is correct.

You could also make a detail view of the cutout that would eliminate any confusion

Attach a leader to one of the four radii, pull the dimension off of the part, and include the text below.

4X R.25

The only time a dimension should be on or inside a part is when you don't have any other option.
