Most likely you cant change that (the French would resent that ;-)

Best regards

most likely the Excel version is french only - France has a legal requirement for employers to use software that is in french. that requirement extends to subsidiaries of foreign companies as well, as i have experienced in my own job. the company i work for has the same PC setup in over a 100 countries - with France as the only exception. apart from the foreign language you will also most likely have to come to terms with quite a different keyboard layot as well :))

there is partly a work around for it: you can enter formulas in the language you are used to - and after entering they will show up in the formulabar in french! when you then later use the spreadsheet on an english language based computer, the formula is shown again in english.

there is another thing you should be aware of. in the us the , is used to separate units of thousands and the . is used as the decimal separator where as in non-english speaking Europe the standard is just the other way around. excel takes over the settings in the operating system - which possibly is set to the . as the thousands separator and the , as the decimal separator. if you put in data in the "french" way you run into trouble in the us most likely and vice versa. to work around this you can change the settings of the operating system.

Ah!! those French so stubborn to their language...La Gloire de France... Unlike oil and vinegar, English and French can mix as I have found in Montreal during its Wolrd Fair in the 60's.

The 60s was a long time ago. I thought Quebec had already seceded from Canada by now.

Western Canada would like the Bloc to be successful in their bid for independence. Problem is that they want the Canadian passport and currency, as well as finincial links to Bay Street. Good luck with that!

Try learning French.
