Having searched the forums for this topic and gleaning what I can from the tribulations of others, I still need some help.

We have several machines in out CAD dept, some are running XP64 Pro, others are running XP32 Pro with Solidworks 2006 (SP5.0 and SP 4.0 Respectively). Our company drawing templates contain a jpg for the logo, and dozens of drawings contain embedded jpegs. Until recently, everything worked fine for all the machines, then about a month ago all the 64 bit machines quit showing the jpegs, just completely missing from the drawing files... but when I open them on the 32 bit machines they are still there, though on one 32 bit machine it gives me an error when I try to click on the image "Class Not Registered". Having looked into this further, I have learned that all images inserted should be done as bitmaps and not jpegs, however this does not help me since we have thousands of drawings that already have jpegs in them. How can I get the 64 bit machines to recognize these embedded jpegs again?

Note, I did try doing a complete clean install of Solidworks 2006 SP5.0 on one of the 64 bit machines and it was to no avail.

Thanks in advance, this is one of those horrible inherited problems that I need to resolve soon.

Or a Windows update could have "fixed" something so well that it no longer works.

Jpegs are linked to files on a server, but the source files are still present and have not been changed whatsoever. If it were just a deleted or broken link, why would some computers still be able to pull up the embedded jpegs just fine.

I find it likely that windows update could have "fixed" something, but I don't quite know where to begin with doing something about that.

Have you verified that the default application used to open JPEGs is the same on the computers exhibiting the problem as it is on computers that have not been affected?

I had a similar issue in the past and making the default application consistent among all machines solved it.

dgowans;

Yep, I set it to windows picture and fax viewer on all the machines and it still only works on the 32 bit machines. I had the exact same thought...

Check your options (locations):

Options did not help, set both the referenced documents and the blocks paths to the locations of my inserted jpegs

Thanks for the help thus far... keep the ideas coming!
