Has anybody had any success or experience with joint welding of Titanium using PTA? I am looking at the possibility of attaching a trailing shroud to the torch.

The few enquiries I have made thus far, nobody has heard of this being done.

Is PTA Plasma Tungsten Arc (Plasma Arc)? If so yes.

Plasma Transfer Arc would not be recommended for joint welding of titanium. The primary arc heat is used to melt the powdered filler metals. Your likelihood of providing full fusion to the base metals to be joined are not good and the quality of deposited weld metal from a powder form is not expected to approach that when using GTAW or PAW with bare solid filler metal added.
