From Aviation leak https://aviationweek.com/aerospace/...kes-wraps-blended-wing-body-development-plans

A little more than two years after JetZero revealed ambitious plans to challenge the Airbus-Boeing air transport duopoly by developing a blended wing body (BWB) airliner, the California company remains on track to fly a full-scale demonstrator by late 2027.

In development under a $235 million cost-sharing U.S. Air Force contract awarded in 2023, the dual-role demonstrator is intended to provide the basis for the follow-on development of a new-generation military tanker-transport and a more efficient midmarket airliner.

235 for a full scale demonstrator seems a bit cheap, and 2 years to slap it together seems very quick.

oh they will eventually ask the US govt for more $, like any good R&D project.

and its just a demonstrator.
building a certified design and getting it into actual production is WAY harder and expensive.

But reaching this stage has not been easy. Despite the potential for fuel-efficiency gains of up to 50% compared with current tube-and-wing designs

Where does this efficiency originate?

A no name company building a super evolved giant-sized aircraft. Hmmm may be a 1/3 scale prototype... then...

Probably they will ask more money later... it feels like most companies do the same, promise impossible deadlines with less budget and then when the deadline approaches they ask again money and continue...
But idk it's a demonstrator so it could be possible depending on how advanced were in the proposal in 2023...
