Jack Screw Connector Issue

Hello There,

I am working with a 303 SS jack screw with M5 threads. The connector mating load is predicted to be about 20 pounds. The torque I have specified is 10 inch-pounds.

My problem is I am failing the extrenal threads in a short amount of time (25-30) matings. Do you reccomend alternative stainless steels as well as any lubricants? If so, what type of lube? Thank you in advance, Bill B.

How thick is the part that is
internally threaded?
Is the Jack Screw centered in the
part ie with no theoretical moment
load?

Yes it is in the center with no eccentric loading concerns. The thread depth is about 8 mm minimum. What I plan to do currently is use Dow Corning 321 dry film lube and mate the thing.

What kind of temperature are
the part enduring?
You might want to try grease
if the temperature is not too
high.
Also is the pitch standard for the
threads or is it a fine pitch?
I assume since it is a jack screw
the internal threads of 8mm length
are always engaged?
