I am using the CS-WSP method set forth in chapter 6 of 2018 IRC. Am I to understand that you do not need a hold-down device (ala Simpson Strong Tie) as long as you don't take the 0.8 Adjustment factor (Item #5 in Table R602.10.3(2))?

I am following the Fastening Schedule per Table 602.3(1) and all other requirements relative to minimum wall length, wall location relative to corners, etc.

The 800 lb hold-down device in that table is only for WSP, not CS-WSP.

Take a look at the end condition requirements. There are some cases where a hold down is required. R602.10.7
