Hello

as the title suggests, i have an inverted beam that goes around the roof slab to act as a parapet, the columns are 500x500 and the inverted beam is 600x200 (200 out the 600 is the intersection of the slab).
my question is: should the columns rebars be extended to reach to the top of the slab only? or they should be extended to the top of the Inv. beam?
also is the answer affected by whether the column is congested or not?

I normally bring them right to top of beam to ensure some lateral stability of my beam’s compression zone at the supports.

you say the inverted beam is perimeter beam to serve as parapet ..but the sketch is not so..and is not clear that the inverted beams are members of frames which are FRS...

If only parapet, you may follow the first option ..

Do you OPers have any concept of how a real structure works or is detailed, or is built? Your model sketches or whatever they are called are about as useless as tits on a boar. Of course, you want the beam and the column to act together and they should be reinforced accordingly. But, nobody (including you) would be able to imagine how the rebar fits in your sketches. If you want engineering answers you will have to learn to speak, describe and sketch like a real engineer, if you want other engineers to help you.
