the thread seems to be deleted, but here is the workflow
to have a nut threaded:

forget the cutout, just invoke the function 'Hole'
you'll find this on the fly-out along with 'Thread'
the do this:

- select the face to place the hole
- first select 30mm THEN select threaded from the pulldown
- choose the appropriate M30
- set 'thread depth' to hole extent
- set hole depth to 'through all' or leave at 'through next'
hit OK
- place hole
hit Return
- set the direction
hit Finish

Using Thread on a *hole* the hole's diameter must be less
than the desired nominal thread diameter otherwise no material
can be removed and SE will present you the next larger thread
-- or fail

Not sure what to tell yea donyoung. I'm on V20 and work as it should. I open file and tried on there with out any problem. Can you give us more detail? I remember V18 had some thread problems. But i think it was in the dft area.

Hi,
Sorry for that I did not state why I've posted this.

There was a thread from someone who did ask how to
get a nut threaded. Instead of using the hole feature
he used the thread function but on a hole that did match
match the nominal diameter (M30) which obviously will
not work.
I was unable to post a reply because this posting was
already marked as deleted. I don't know why this was
done. So I decided to open a new thread just in case
the one who dis ask might read it
