Dear all,
Can anyone help me with section 5.9.7.6.2 of API 650 tank? What do you mean by a portion of the tank shell for a distance above and below the attachment of the shell?

As shown in Figure 5.24, except replace 16t with the appropriate formula from 5.9.7.6.2.

Thank you Geoff13. But what does this portion of tank shell denote to? Why is it calculated but not used in other further calculations?

Clause 5.9.7.6 calculates the required section modulus. Clause 5.9.7.6.2 calculates the available section modulus of the combined wind girder and participating shell plate. Try different wind girder shapes and sizes to determine which is large enough.

Please forgive me for asking this question. You are posting a lot of very basic questions. Don't you have a work collegue who could help you with these simple items?

Geoff13, I am dealing on my own. Anyways you aren't giving the exact solution to what I m asking. Though thank you for your reply Geoff13

Not sure what I'm missing. Can you think of another way to ask your question?

I see you've got a new user name.

Okay sure I will. Yeah, changes are needed in life.[afro]
