Interior wind columns

I have some HSS 4x4 columns for some interior curtain wall, was trying to figure out how to fasten to the ceiling. Roof is trusses, my first thought was just some 2x6's flat between the trusses, and then a cap plate with 4 holes for some GRK screws. Any thoughts how to handle the truss deflection, or just let them load up a bit with deflection?

No. If the truss is transferring axial load to your columns, then the truss is bearing at that point and you're likely causing stress reversals in some of the members. Compression in an unbraced tension member is bad news. And tension in a joint designed to just hold the members in place while they bear on each other in compression is equally bad. If this is all new construction, you can just tell the truss manufacturer to design for a support at that point.

You could weld an angle to the top of your post (L6x6?) and put some slotted holes in the vertical leg. Through bolt that to your blocking between trusses with something to reduce friction between the parts. Trusses and blocking can deflect, column remains braced.

Something like this? I would say max load would be about 500lbs.

That's more or less what I had in mind. Might want to show the bolts closer to the center of the slot so it can deflect up and down.

and I use this...

-ALL ‘SLIDING’ CONNECTIONS AND HS THROUGH BOLTS FOR HSS TO BE FINGER TIGHT. TORQUE TO 2.3N-M (20IN-LBS) (DO NOT CRUSH HSS WALL) AND THREADS SECURED BY PEENING OR LOCTITE ‘RED’ THREAD LOCKER.
