Interior acoustical ceiling diagonal hanger wire

I have seen some acoustical ceiling details without diagonal wire but some project with diagonal wires. Does code require the diagonal brace? maybe not in low seismic zone?

I believe this is a seismic requirement. Check FEMA 74.
