When integrating a meshed model with another meshed model in FEMAP, does anyone know how to effectively renumber one of the models so that the element numbers don't overlap? I am particularly referring to laminate elements, but I think the general rule of how to do it should apply to any kind. The manual says that using the renumbering option allows the elements to do this. However, when I input the supposed renumbered model, the model defaults to its original numbering system. Any help? I should mention that I have used .nas files, neutral files, and .mod files.

Open model two one export it to neutral format.

Open model two and check for the highest node/element/property/etc number that you have used.

Now import model one, use the "Model Merge Option" and set the value higher than the highest value you have used.

I have used this basic principle many times and it usually works fine.

Good Luck
