Hi all,

Is it possible to import an AutoCad 2000 solids drawing into ABAQUS for FEA analysis. If it is possible then how to import from Autocad or how to export through autocad to Abaqus?
I would be gratefull if I get any answers to this.

Regards

Your best bet would be to export a SAT file (ACIS) from AutoCAD. This will import very nicely into ABAQUS/CAE (since it uses ACIS as the geometry engine).

If you can't export SAT then try STEP...

If it's a 3D solid file, then as brep says, .SAT is the way to go. Failing that, try .STEP.

If it is 2D geometry, you can import it as sketch geometry in CAE via a .DXF file.
